Philosopher
Philosophy can be defined as a ‘way of thinking’. We are all Philosophers as we all think. Philosophers share their experience and wisdom to help others combat the challenges in life. To be a Philosopher you have to be brave and have a big enough ego to think you can help other people with your great wisdom and help them improve their quality of life. This only works if the Philosopher is living a great life itself, so to stand as an example. I don’t believe you learn Philosophy from a book, you learn it based on the decisions and actions you make in life, intertwined with what you can clean from others. Personal Philosophy and therefore advancement, is individual and never the same for 2 people. It’s a pickamix of lessons learnt.
It wasn’t until I read Jordan Peterson’s ‘Twelve Rules for Life’, that I realised what a Philosopher I was. I certainly have the experience and ego, and over the years have adopted my own rules or tricks to get through life and raise myself above the noise of the maddening crowd. So I am going to share with you my own Philosophies that have helped me live a full, rewarding and incredible life, with many years yet to come. These are my 12 rules for life. They may not all be for you, but they work for me. Feel free to use and abuse them.
12 Rules for Life - The Neil O'Neil Version
- Opportunities are dancing lessons from god, take them ALL and learn to waltz through life.
- Live every day like your last, because one day it will be.
- God if for the unimaginative as religion is the curse of mankind’s ego. No religion is right ergo all religions must be wrong.
- Ideologies are like a Straight Jacket, they restrict your movement & impossible to get out of. Shed all your ideologies to be really free.
- Suck the goodness out of every adversity, there is always some hiding in there. There is good in everything.
- Indifference is difficult to defend against and impossible to beat. Use it wisely.
- Stress is like a fart, let it go and masturbate more often.
- You control what enters your eyes, ears and mouth, so quit bitching.
- Do everything the best you can, no matter how small. Always take that shopping trolley back.
- Do not assume anything; verify, quantify and research to convince yourself. Don’t be converted or convinced by other.
- Always keep some secrets to yourself, true or wishful; they are the fabric of your individuality and the balance to your sanity.
- Don’t be afraid to be wrong and say sorry. Humility starts with you. Accepting failure accelerates success.
